This piece started as a simple character design prompt in which I attempted to digitally imitate the artistic style of Stephen Gammell with his haunting graphic and charcoal figures. However, along the way it also became a metaphor for the fear and anxiety many people feel whenever they are called to return to their childhood home, as if their trauma is waiting to envelop them before they even step foot inside.
